Memorial Day

We had a pretty uneventful, relaxing Memorial Day.
Joe works a lot of Saturdays so Monday holidays are always nice to have off.
We headed to the park after lunch with Hayes.
After we got Hayes nice and worn out, we came home for nap time.
Later, Joe and Hayes played outside while I just watched and enjoyed not having to do much of anything :)
Travis (Joe's brother) came up that evening for a little bbq and some Wii.
Nothing too exciting but a great day none the less!
lovin' the swings.
How cute are these two!?
He usually takes quite a few spills while at the park.
anddd back to the swings.
Hayes wants to be just like daddy.
Watching uncle Trav play Mario Kart on the Wii.
Notice the change of clothes on Hayes?
That would be because he decided to sit on one of the neighbors sprinklers.

Hope everyone else had a nice Memorial Day!

Hawaii

Warning: This post is pretty long... I thought about splitting it into 2 posts to shorten it a bit but... I didn't feel like it.
Joe and I decided to plan a fun get away to Oahu, Hawaii.
Mostly Joe... I was hesitant to leave Hayes but he ended up having a blast at my parents house.
Fortunately, I was able to have fun too :)
It wasn't until Mother's Day that I got pretty homesick for Hayes, and we were going home the next day so it was okay.
It was really nice to spend a whole week with the hubs, relax and do whatever we pleased.
It was kind of weird too- it was almost like I didn't know how to relax and not worry about anything.
Anyway, it was a ton of fun! It was good to have a break.
Here's a picture overload from our trip!
Walking around the resort.
Story... So we were walking around the resort the first night and this couple tells us they are renewing their vows after 30 years of marriage. They proceeded to ask me to be their photographer for the ceremony. Random? Yes. Joe captured me, capturing their special moments. The Hawaiian pastor was so classic.
Turtle Bay at sunset.
This is me being sad because it started raining.
We did a lot of relaxing on the beach.

The little guy in the distance is Joe :)
Hurry, go stand by the sign.

Enjoying some wine tasting at the resort.... J/k. Maybe some pineapple juice.
Just a pose.
Getting ready for Waimea Valley hike.
Seriously, so pretty there!!
Joe swimming in the waterfall at the end of the hike.
Waimea Falls.
Turtle Bay. Ahh..
Gorgeous temple grounds in Laie.

Temple visitor center
Visit to the Dole Plantation.
Pineapple ice cream! Yumm!!

Delish.
Pineapple gardens.
Fishpond.  Those fish were crazy.
Just doin' some hula.

Walking around Honolulu at night.
Beach hula show. I loved it. They had these along the beach all weekend.
Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor.

You can't really tell, but Joe is posing like the statue in the background. Silly Joe.

Smoothie on the beach. Life is rough :)
Ocean time.
We enjoyed A LOT of shaved ice.
The mall over there is huge!! I couldn't pass up these little TOMS for Hayes.
One of my favorite parts of the trip. Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay.
Getting ready to do some snorkeling.
Whose that good lookin' lifeguard? Oh wait, that's my husband!
Pretty view.
The food over there is ridiculously expensive!! We ate at Costco a few times. Love me some gelato!

The End.

Hayes is ONE!!

To say the past year has flown by would be- well a lie.  Although it has been an amazing year, it has been both long and hard!! I wouldn't trade it for anything but holy cow, all the stress, fatigue, worrying, loving, playing, diaper changing, patience practicing, bath giving, entertaining, teaching, feeding, soothing etc. can WEAR A GIRL OUT! I look back at the year and just laugh at myself.  All the naive things I did, and tricks I tried with Hayes to get him to sleep, or eat, or try to get him to roll over, etc. are just ridiculous quite honestly.  But, I have to give myself a break because I'm learning too. Hayes was just our little guinea pig baby. I know every baby is different but I think I may have a better handle on things the next time around! :)

I love this boy so much! I never knew my heart could be so full. It doesn't hurt that I have such a cute, sweet little guy either. He is so much fun these days! He's a little smarty too! He is just full of curiosity and wants to see and explore everything around him. Hayes rarely crawls anymore- he is walking everywhere. He is super friendly and often waves at people we pass at the grocery store. Some additional words Hayes can say this month are-

-push- he really likes buttons and turning on & off lights
-shoes- he is constantly bringing me shoes to put on my feet
-ca- car- he would play in the car all day if I let him, and he loves the little car gma & gpa andelin got him for his birthday too
-no- while shaking his head when he knows he's doing something he's not supposed to :)
-ba ba- bye bye as he waves
-doe- door- he wants to go outside all the time
-moo- although he will rarely say it, we taught him what a cow says

... there are probably more but that's all I can think of right now. Hayes will also say a lot of things that aren't really words but I know what they mean.  He does new things all the time that just crack us up.  He is so loving and if he has been playing with toys by himself for awhile he will stop to come give me a hug and then go back to playing. He is really smiley and likes to show off. He often claps for himself when he does something like stacking blocks. He is so full of life and energy!

I'm loving watching Hayes grow.  I've been a little bit sad because I feel like he's not going to be my baby for very much longer, but he just gets more fun all the time.  Joe and I feel so blessed to have Hayes in our lives.  We love our Hayesy pants!
